Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan hubungan dan kerja sama militer dengan para Atase Pertahanan (Athan) dan Diplomat dari berbagai negara, khususnya yang bertugas di Republik Arab Mesir.
Ada yang unik dan berbeda pada perhelatan Resepsi Diplomatik kali ini yaitu dengan tampilnya atraksi bela diri khas Indonesia yaitu Pencak Silat yang dimainkan oleh mahasiswa dan warga Mesir. Mereka merupakan pesilat dari perguruan Tapak Suci dan Telaga Biru cabang Mesir.
Duta Besar RI untuk Republik Arab Mesir, H.E. Helmy Fauzy dalam sambutannya mengatakan, bahwa dalam rangka menjaga perdamaian dan ketertiban dunia, maka kerja sama internasional melalui kerja sama militer dan pertahanan antar negara amatlah diperlukan.
“Indonesia memandang Mesir sebagai salah satu negara dengan kekuatan A
angkatan bersenjata yang tercanggih dan paling modern di kawasan Afrika dan Timur Tengah,” kata Helmi dalam siaran pers yang diterima ifakta.co, pada Kamis (12/12/2019).
Helmi menegaskan, kerja sama pertahanan antara kedua negara harus dipelihara dan ditingkatkan, terutama untuk memerangi terorisme yang merupakan ancaman bagi perdamaian dunia.
Sementara itu, Athan RI di Kairo Kolonel Arm Alvin Dermawan Sukardi, dalam sambutannya mengungkapkan bahwa TNI telah berkontribusi menjaga perdamaian dunia dengan mengirimkan Pasukan Penjaga Perdamaian di bawah bendera PBB dan terus menambah jumlahnya agar tercapai target 4000 personel.
”Saat ini Indonesia tengah meningkatkan modernisasi alutsista bahkan telah berhasil memproduksi alutsista sendiri berupa tank medium dan ringan, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) serta berbagai senjata api dan munisi,” ujarnya.
Alvin menerangkan, indonesia juga memproduksi kapal dan pesawat udara untuk keperluan militer maupun sipil. Produk-produk tersebut telah digunakan di beberapa negara termasuk oleh PBB, karena kualitas dan harganya yang bersaing.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, lulusan Akademi Milliter pada tahun 1997 itu juga menyampaikan bahwa hubungan dan kerja sama antara Indonesia dan Mesir sudah lama terjalin sejak Mesir menjadi salah satu negara pertama yang mengakui kemerdekaan Indonesia.
”Pada masa yang akan datang, kerja sama militer dan pertahanan antar kedua negara akan terus diperkuat,” pungkasnya.
Resepsi Diplomatik perayaan HUT ke-74 TNI dihadiri oleh Menteri Pertahanan Republik Arab Mesir yang diwakili oleh Asisten Menhan, Mayor Jenderal Bassem Riyadh Soleiman dan Kepala Staf Gabungan Angkatan Bersenjata Mesir yang diwakili oleh Marsekal Muda Mohamed Abdel Gaber Abdel Latif.
Dalam acara tersebut hadir pula para Athan negara sahabat yang terakreditasi dan residen di Mesir baik yang berasal dari negara kawasan Eropa, Amerika, Afrika maupun Asia.
